There will be ample free parking and a free shuttle will run every 20 minutes from the Premier Factory Outlet. Admission: $5 for a two-day pass, children under 12 are free. Schedule of Lectures: Saturday 10:00am -- "Enjoying the Beauty of Roses" with Sandy Dixon, President, Jacksonville Rose Society 11:30am -- "Flower Arranging is Like Music" with Randolph Weedman, High end Floral Designer 1:00pm -- "New Plants and Trends" with Terry Delvalle, Horticultural Agent, Duval County 2:30pm -- "The Art of Composting" with Evie Pankok, Program Assistant, Duval County 3:45pm -- TBA Sunday 10:00am -- "Making your Yard Florida Friendly" presented by St. Johns County Master Gardener 11:30am -- TBA 1:00pm -- "Growing Microgreens for Salads, Garnishes and Flavorings" with Keith Fuller, SJC Horticulture Agent 2:30pm -- "The Freshness of Herbal Teas with Tasting" (Using fresh and dried herbs)with Barbara Huber Spitzer ****All proceeds benefit EPIC Community Services, Inc.**** HORTICULTURE RULES The Garden Club of St. Augustine is inviting the general public as well as Garden Club Members to enter potted plants and cut flowers or greenery in the annual Flower Show to be held during the EPIC Celebration of Spring at the Agriculture Center. Specimens will be accepted on Thursday, April 16 from 10am until 3pm and must be picked up Sunday, April 19 from 4pm to 5pm. The rules for entering are: 1. All horticulture must be fresh and grown by the exhibitor for at least ninety days prior to the show. Exception: Combination plantings, which must have been grown by the exhibitor for at least six weeks. 2. All entries must be of show quality, well-groomed and in clean pots no larger than 12” in diameter. All pots larger than 12” will be entered in the patio section and must be placed by the exhibitor. Double potting is allowed. Figural and decorative pots are discouraged. 3. No Bonsai plants. No artificial treatment, such as plant shine is permitted. 4. All entries must be labeled with the correct botanical name, genus and species, and cultivar, if known. Common names may be added. Entry cards will be available at the time of entry. Classification Committee will be available to assist in filling out entries. 5. An exhibitor may enter more that one exhibit if each entry is a different species, variety, cultivar, type or color. 6. Containers for cut specimens will be provided. Inconspicuous wedging is allowed. 7. Collections must consist of five different cut specimens in containers provided by the exhibitor or five different container-grown plants. Collections must be preregistered with the Entries Chairman. |
